Exploring Clinician Experience with Virtual Care for Pediatric Concussion During the COVID Pandemic
Arman Grewal
Concussions have become a significant public health concern in Canada. Telehealth and virtual care have been recommended as a method to increase access to concussion care across Canada. During the COVID-19 pandemic, clinicians have shifted to virtual care. Understanding clinicians’ experiences providing virtual services may help identify strategies to support the continued use of virtual care beyond the COVID-19 pandemic. This study explores clinician experience providing virtual telemedicine or telerehabilitation services for pediatric concussion management during the COVID-19 pandemic, and sought to understand clinician perspectives about the impact of COVID-19 on recovery in youth with concussion. Policy recommendations are identified to support more effective use of virtual care beyond the COVID-19 pandemic.
